Freedom Farms is located in Barksdale which is part of the beautiful Nueces Canyon in the Texas hill country. Awesome mountain vistas make the tensions of everyday life melt away. Freedom Farms has an indoor and outdoor arena with facilities for overnight horse accommodations. The human overnighters can stay in one of the rustic cabins. Jan and Darryl Henderson have dedicated Freedom Farms to sharing the Gospel. Christian horse camps, lessons, and Cowboy Church services take place during the year. The quaint town of Camp Wood is only 4 miles away. Camp Wood is a favorite resting stop for motorcycle enthusiasts and birders. Many good restaurants and shops appeal to the tourists. The Nueces River offers swimming, tubing, and kayaking almost all year. The Devil's Sinkhole in Rocksprings has one of the states largest bat caves and gives tours from May through September. Rocksprings is 25 miles north of Barksdale. The town of Leakey (home of Garner State Park) is 25 miles east.
